Human hubris is repeating ancient history. In creating Artificial Intelligence (AI), we are again trying to put ourselves on equal footing with God. This is a big mistake. The ultimate result of the marriage between people and AI is the bastardization of linguistics.
Humanity has bastardized linguistics to the point that language will never be anything we can trust again. I can’t even conceive of where that leaves us.
For me, that’s a problem. Social media is tough competition for 800 word essays, articles or feature stories. And now, it is virtually impossible to tell if one is reading an AI-generated story (which is a comment on our teaching of writing for the last 50 years, but that’s another story).
AI is illegitimate. Language will never be anything we can trust again. I can’t even conceive of where that leaves us. But I am sure of one thing: truth is the first casualty.
