Yadkin Arts Council to present ‘The Lady Demands Satisfaction’ April 9 – 12 at the Willingham Theater

YADKINVILLE, N.C. – The Yadkin Arts Council and Willingham Performing Arts Academy will present the sword-slinging farce “The Lady Demands Satisfaction” by Arthur M. Jolly on the Willingham Theater stage April 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. and April 12 at 3 p.m. While set in the 18th century, this high stakes coming-of-age story blends traditional period tropes with a modern feminist perspective. Featuring witty dialogue, rapid-fire comedy, and serious sword fighting, this silly frothy frolic will leave audiences satisfied.

Synopsis:

When a young maiden who has never touched a sword learns she must defend her inheritance in a duel, she struggles with a milksop suitor, a servant girl posing as a Prussian fencing master, a Prussian fencing master who thinks he is there to marry her, a stodgy lawyer and her domineering aunt – the finest blade anywhere – to save her house and lands. Like all classic farces, everyone gets the ending they deserve in unexpected ways … but will they be satisfied?
