LENOIR, N.C. – Grassroots Appalachia will be closing out it’s Opening week of activities tomorrow, Aug. 20 with a focus on Caldwell County Writers and Books.
At 11:30, the Foothills Writing Group will be introducing themselves, sharing work and inviting others to join; at 2 p.m., Gretchen Griffith, a local writer, will be speaking on her books about women, tying the importance of women to the Conditions Favorable for Community Life; at 6:30, Tony Deal of Lenoir will be reading from and discussing his book, “But that’s not true!” Joining him will be the illustrator of his book, Tonja Smith.
Also, our Appalachian Fair Trade Arts & Crafts collection is growing, as you can see below.

Our normal business hours are Wednesday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and other times for events. However, following the end of the Opening on Thursday, we will close Friday and Saturday this week and reopen next Wednesday.
