LENOIR, N.C. – We at Grassroots Appalachia enjoyed an Opening week (Aug. 15-20) consistent with the Spirit of North Carolina. Creativity, kindness, storytelling, exceptional talent and hard work exemplified North Carolina’s motto, “Esse Quam Videri” (Latin for “To be, rather than to seem”).

Thanks All Around

The artisans of Lenoir and nearby communities demonstrated Lenoir’s motto, “Create with Us.” In a subsequent article, I’ll delve into specific examples of how our performers, guests, volunteers, vendors and public captured and enjoyed the best of Lenoir and North Carolina. Today though, I want to thank each person that helped us have a very memorable Opening.

Expanding Appalachian Fair Trade Arts & Crafts offerings

We’ll be reopening on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Then, you can buy the latest edition of “Our State” magazine, as well as it’s Mountain edition. You can also support local artisans; our inventory continues to grow. We have art, fiber arts, jewelry, tinctures, books, hand-crafted furniture and novelties, and a surprise or two in our inventory as well as upcoming events.

Hours of Operation

We are Open Wednesday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and at other times for events and gatherings. We are closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
