LENOIR, N.C. – Should you find yourself in Lenoir this Saturday, Sept. 12 for Lenoir’s 40^th Annual Sculpture Celebration, take a little time to visit Grassroots Appalachia, Lenoir’s newest private art gallery and Appalachian Fair Trade Arts & Crafts Store. We are open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Sculpture Celebration is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the T.H. Broyhill Walking Park. Grassroots Appalachia is located just a short distance away, at 458-B Harper Avenue.

We have more than 22 book titles among the 10 local and one national author we carry. We have handmade jewelry, tinctures, flies for fishing, goat milk soap, pin cushions, shawls, shawl pins, more – and of course art.

In fact, just today we received the first four paintings for our next Art Exhibit. Titled “Home Grown,” the Opening will be Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. The paintings, from Lynn Downham and Shirley Story are already on display.

We’re less than a month old and the number of artisans and craftspeople contributing to us grows daily, which means our product line is growing as well. If you’re going shopping and want to help your neighbors, come by Grassroots Appalachia. You’ll not find many places where the owner know every vendor. In addition to our Gallery and Gift Shop, we have Song nights coming up soon, as well as other events.
